Liam Byrnes is a Pre-Law Advisor and current UW Law Student (2L). He attended DePauw University for his undergraduate degree where he studied Music and Political Science. Before attending law school, he completed a Fulbright Grant in Thailand, worked as a server, and clerked at a medical malpractice/personal injury law firm in Chicago. At UW Law, Liam competes in Moot Court, works as a Student Ambassador in the UW Law Admissions Office, serves as a Criminal Law Discussion Group Leader, and volunteers as a Tax Preparer for the IRS’s VITA program. He worked as a non-partisan Election Protection Intern at the ACLU of Wisconsin during the 2024 election cycle and will work at a large law firm in Chicago this summer.

As a Pre-Law Graduate Advisor, Liam is available to meet with any undergraduate student or alumnus of UW-Madison.

Ambar earned her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she majored in Art History and Spanish. Ambar is currently in her second (2L) year at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Ambar is a member of multiple law student organizations including the Wisconsin Law Review, Public Interest Law Foundation, Women’s Law Student Association and Labor & Employment Student Association. Ambar is excited to help future law students meet their goals at each step of the application process.

Laurin Dodge (she/her) serves as the Operations Coordinator for Pre-Professional Advising (PPA), supporting both the Centers for Pre-Health and Pre-Law Advising.  Threaded throughout her vocational path – first as a music teacher, and then in student development in higher education – is a passion for exploring meaning and purpose with students and colleagues.  She holds a B.M. in Music Education from UW-Madison, an M.A. in Education from Edgewood College, and training in grief counseling.  Laurin loves to dance, travel to new places, and collect thrifted treasures.

Carley Gomez serves as a Pre-Law Advisor and CPLA’s Lead for Professional Development. She has a PhD in English from the University of Missouri and an MFA in Writing from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. For the past five years, she’s taught undergraduate English courses at the University of Missouri, often at the intersection of rhetoric and social justice issues. The connection between writing, literature, and law is ever-present, and she is passionate about teaching rhetorical skills and helping people find their voices as they pursue their goals and write their personal statements.

Before joining the Office of Academic & Career Success, Rachel earned her B.A. in Media & Information from Michigan State University. She works closely with the Career Exploration Center, the Center for Pre-Law Advising, and the Center for Pre-Health Advising on campus to develop meaningful content for student-facing online communities and to connect communications across offices, ensuring students have access to the resources they need. Rachel is a lover of breakfast foods, summers on the Great Lakes, Billy Joel, and live music.

Janet earned her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and her B.A. from Marquette University, where she majored in Theatre Arts and Education. Janet has over a decade of experience as an educator in the test prep industry, teaching students how to succeed on exams like the LSAT, GMAT, and GRE, facilitating workshops on admissions processes, and supporting applicants in crafting personal statements. In addition to her role as a Pre-Law Advisor, Janet teaches the CPLA LSAT Workshop Series, a four session self-study primer offered multiple times throughout the year.

Molly Reinhard serves as the Director of Pre-Professional Advising, Centers for Pre-Health and Pre-Law Advising. She has worked in student services at UW-Madison since 2007, with a focus on enhancing access and equity within k-12 and higher education, career development programming, and workplace cultures. Prior to joining the Office of Academic & Career Success and the CPLA/CPHA teams in fall 2017, Molly served as senior student services coordinator and dean-on-call in the College of Ag & Life Sciences Academic Affairs Office and as director of pre-college and outreach programs in the College of Engineering Diversity Affairs Office (now the Inclusion, Equity, & Diversity Student Center). Current committee memberships include the Career Services Executive Council (CSEC), Law & Policy Working Group, and the Campus Pre-Health Committee (CPHC). She holds a B.A. in Sociology from UW-Madison, an M.S. in Cultural Foundations of Education & Community Engagement from UW-Milwaukee, and is a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
