JD Next Discount Access

Group Discounts for the JD Next Course/Exam

Have you heard about JD Next? It is a new option to help students prepare for law school.

JD-Next is an 8-week, non-credit course and four-hour exam introducing legal principles and law school teaching methods. It is designed to help you confirm that a law degree is right for you, to build concrete skills, and to prepare you for an exam to potentially strengthen your future applications.

JD Next is offered through Aspen Publishing and is not affiliated with UW-Madison. However, CPLA has researched the program and it shows promise for supporting students to prepare for their law school journeys.

Note: Some law schools are beginning to consider JD Next completion and test scores as a complement to other application materials. And while a few schools may currently accept the JD Next in lieu of an LSAT or GRE score, as of May 2025 the ABA still does not view JD Next to have parity with the LSAT. The vast majority of schools require and prefer the LSAT. At this stage, JD Next can best be described as a law school prep program, or an application supplement, not an alternative admissions pathway.
